The Build section of the developer site provides information on building and maintaining RPMs for ClearOS.
Over June/July/August 2010, ClearFoundation will be migrating to a new build system. Once complete, developers in the community will be able to build and maintain their own packages. These packages will be available to all ClearOS users via yum and - with the release of ClearOS 6.0 - via webconfig!
During this migration, the documentation here will be a moving target. Apologies in advance.
ClearOS starts from open source code from Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS. We then use other open source software to fill in some of the missing gaps (for example, intrusion detection). We are not trying to re-invent the wheel around here! One of the goals of ClearOS is to keep the number of upstream RPM
1) changes to a minimum. You can find the list of packages and some of the gory technical details here:
The following three documents take you through the process of building RPMs for ClearOS. The first document is a general primer for manually building RPMs. The next two documents go into details about the specifics of the ClearFoundation build system.
