Class c setup 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi:
Can I use clear os for our network which has one t-1 with a class c all used as public ips. (Purchased a hardware firewall from Netgear whose pre sales techs say it could be done but it can't. Problem was can't have gateway/router on same subnet?) We don't need nat, etc. just want to protect the netork of web hosting, dns and email servers from the DOS attacks we been getting. The servers fireqwalls are protecrting the servers but not the network. Help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Pete

Didn't your ISP also give you a /30 to use to connect your router back to them? Did they provide you with an IP, G/W, S/N mask and DNS addresses to use for the WAN side of your router? If so, then yes I see no reason you can't use your /24 on the LAN side of your router.

OK. with your other circuits has the .1 address been the G/W and on the provider's router - leaving you with .2 as your first useable address?
