I'm also interested in testing this.

I'm having the same problem in our office. I thought something like this was obviously included in ClearOS. I chose ClearOS over pfSense, zeroshell, untangle, zentyal, nufirewall and others because it was CentOS based. But after finding out that basic stuff like QoS, group based filtering, i7-filter based QoS, etc is not present, I am quite disappointed. Hope you guys ante it up soon!

Darryl,
Any updates on this? QoS would be immensely helpful to me, and probably a lot of other people using VoIP.

Darryl,
Is the PRIO command line hack available? If so, where?
Thanks,

Hi Peter, it should be possible to manually implement QOS by creating your own bandwidth classes and rules to match traffic. I'd recommend starting with a clean slate (i.e. no other existing bandwidth rules)
For example the bulk 1:2 class actually has a priomap assigned to it (other new classes do not)
With some manipulation of the 'tc' command, and creating a batch script in say /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall.local it should be possible?

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the very useful tip on the bulk class, although I suspect using it would require removing the divide by eight hardcoded bandwidth limit.
My problem with doing this myself is that I know absoluteley nothing about iptables and tc and even less about the associated COS scripts. That could change in future and may indeed have to do so. Yet, if somebody already have invented the wheel, I would much prefer hooking on to that bandwagon; not least because I have no alternative but working on our production server and my stern users (the family) frown horribly upon living through a period of stray internet issues until I get it right.
Hence, if anybody has a working recipe lying about for setting-up prio qdisc in COS, I would love hearing about it.

I would love to be able to prioritize certain traffic, mainly SIP RTP. So far anything I've tried using the bandwidth rules in COS has only made things worse for me. We've all but given up on using Voip due to not having working QoS, and it doesn't help that our ADSL speeds are highly variable to being oversold.
If I didn't rely on Content Filtering I'd have ditched COS a long time ago and found something that can actually manage traffic. It's sad that the developers don't seem to find this important enough to implement properly. I've been a user going back to ClarkConnect 0.7, so I don't want to give up on the platform, but it's becoming bloatware while things that seem much more important in a gateway get overlooked.

+1 for Peter's request for a working script. I could care less that it's not part of the Webconfig - command-line is fine by me.
The difference between editing a script's variables and creating the whole script is daunting, however. That's why I was so pleased about Darryl's work on a real QoS module. Is there any kind of update on that project, even if it's only in script form?
