@Peter,
The script as posted is fine (and cleaner than mine which still has some debug code in it!). It could possibly be tidied up so that when you do a stop it kills all instances of transmission-daemon, but having said that if you use this start up script you should only ever have one instance of it running.

Did you use Transmission v1.92? I followed the same instructions pretty much to upgrade to 1.92 a couple of weeks ago and it appears to be fine.

Thanks Nick! Yes, I used the latest 1.92 version. I patched it so that it would work with the default curl version in ClearOS.

Out of interest, I never worked out how to make the start up script visible to ntsysv. How should I have done it?

The "chkconfig" line at the top of the script makes this possible (yes, the line is commented). It won't show up in webconfig unless it is explicitly defined in ClearOS --- might change that policy one day.

That is what I thought I understood about the chkconfig line, but when I do a ntsysv from the command line, it does not show up

Make sure you run this too:

chkconfig --add transmission-daemon
