Hi Tim

That would be great. I have just upgraded from 5.2, and have been using Tranmission for a long time.
I upgraded because of MythTV 0.25, because that could not be installed on 5.2, I did not even check if Transmission would work on 6.2.
I saw you were working on getting it released, but from what i understood, only for 64bit.
Then i wont try and do a manual install then!

Thanks

Some food for thought

A couple of years ago I had an instance where running a torrent app on my home connection (in this case it was torrentfluxb4rt) what would happen is that when running active downloads the rest of it crawled to a screaming halt. It was maddening since I had bandwidth in spades. 24mb+ down when not using it

I changed the port range it was using it went away entirely for about 1-2moths then returned rinse repeat this would go on an off for years.

I put it down to the ISP identifying the traffic (might I add its rather easy to spot) then throttling that given traffic - Rather common practice for bargain basement residential ISP's

So try a different port range is my advice

In other cases if you are using double nat - i.e the modem in front of the gateway is cheap an nasty job it and grinds away slowly with all the traffic filling its nat table hence the crawling, so disable double nat and forward the lot to your enternal interface or run a bridged modem which is the case with DSL and PPPOE

Hi gujs,

Check this post

There is a version for 32 bit and 64 bit (ClearOS 6.x).

Thanks Marcel. I don't know how I missed that.

Do you guys maybe know how can I configure write permissions for transmission if I want it to write torrents directly on my flexshare share? All work but reading and writing to downloads folder over samba right now.

You have to make transmission the owner of the flexshare.

Code:

chown transmission.allusers /var/flexshare/shares/yourshare
