Thanks to both of you! My moderate-use server's management interface is much snappier than it was before. I am admittedly not the most patient person in the world, and the noticeable speed increase has made me appreciate the ClearOS community for their dedication and passion.

Hey Ruud, Would you mind letting me know how mod_pagespeed works for you and what you had to do to configure it on your Joomla site? I've got a fairly new Joomla site started and wouldn't mind doing what I can to improve its performance. Thanks. Dirk

Hi Dirk,
works without configuration by just installing it. Creates a caching directory in your webhost directory (/var/www/html) and caches your joomla site after first using it.
installation is described here (only one small typo in the instruction: yum local install => yum localinstall). There is also a link to more info on how it works etc.

I just installed it and the pages seem snappier. We'll see how it goes. As far as the cache directory, I"m certain there already was one in my webroot due to a few different joomla extensions I've installed over time. I don't think Apache has anything to do with it until now though. Thanks for the advice.

Works great here! Can't wait to try it out on some of my older PIII based servers (Webconfig tends to be horrible on them, but overall they perform well for their age!) Keep up the good work Tim!
