IMAP and POP Server - beta release 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hello,

The old IMAP and POP Server thread has been pushed down the forums due to inactivity, so I decided to revive it with a more "official" announcement. There is a standard IMAP/POP server available, for those who:

- don't need calendering, contacts, tasks, groupware and webmail provided by Zarafa
- don't want to make the $10 purchase for Zarafa Community for ClearOS

You can install the IMAP/POP server with:

yum --enablerepo=clearos-updates-testing install app-imap

Under the hood, this is the same IMAP/POP server used in ClearOS 5.x: cyrus-imapd. There's no Kolab support, it's just a plain workhorse mail server. The app is in a "works for me" state, so we need more beta test feedback from the community before it can become an official app available via Marketplace.

That is good news. Has any decision been made for a webmail solution?

Peter,

I'm currently using the imap and pop server on a testbox (6.3) and it works just fine.

Thanks for the update.

Hi all,
I'm migrating an old server running COS 5.2 to COS 6.3, to keep the installation as close as possible (I don't want to reconfigure everything from scratch) I installed the app from this topic.
Everything is running smoothly but, compared to the version 5.2 I noted that two components were missing: fetchmail and quarantine. For the former, I already found an interesting How-To made by Tim and Dirk on how to instal fetchmail from the command line. For the latter, I'm still running in the dark...

Is there any option to enable the mail quarantine and allow the "mail antispan" to use it?

Thanks in advance for your help

After getting the current 6.3 installed/configuered I installed the current app-imap and it seems the cyrus imapd service is not starting at boot/reboot - nor does it start/restart. I get the perverbial red [FAILED] when I view the system booting up.

I'll have to see what the logs have to say about this.

Hi Peter

Have had 'testing' cyrus-imapd in production now for the last 10 days approx... Thanks to ClearOS for the effort in providing it... I'm happy

3 things of note - with fixes...

1. squatter not running... www.clearfoundation.com/component/option...view/id,45096/#45096

2. idled not running... www.clearfoundation.com/component/option...view/id,45088/#45088

3. Issue with quotas and pre-existing users... www.clearfoundation.com/component/option...view/id,44850/#44850

Squirrelmail installed and worked with the very minimum of effort to provide web mail... www.clearfoundation.com/component/option...view/id,44933/#44933

Peter,

I checked the /etc/imapd.conf file and found it had double entries. Appearantly the entries were already added and I didn't notice and added duplicate entires. Once I removed the extra entries and restarted server all loaded/started up.

Here are the entries:

autocreatequota: 1
createonpost: 1

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback! I'll roll those fixes/enhancements into an update and push it to "updates-testing". i'll let everyone know via this thread when that's done. Maybe blog post worthy too.

With special thanks to Tony, a new app-imap package has been released (version 1.2.8). It includes the following fixes/enhancements:

- Squatter and quota cronjobs: details

- autocreatequota fix (set to -1)

- idled configuration fixes

- alias handling fix (similar to tracker #674)

To install the IMAP and POP Server, run:

yum --enablerepo=clearos-updates-testing install app-imap
