TOPIC: Zarafa and the ClearOS 6 Mail Stack - Test Release
#42581
Re:Zarafa and the ClearOS 6 Mail Stack - Test Release 11 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi,
in this days I tried mail stack, but don't work (at least in my configuration):
In webaccess:
- body message
- attachment

Via Thunderbird (IMAP)
- not work at all, it say: Wrong username or password

It's only a my issue or a bug that will be fixed?

Enzo make sure you remove imap from diabled features of server.cfg in /etc/zarafa/.

@peter
you can find the sentence with the 3-Outlookclients here:
/usr/clearos/apps/zarafa_community/language/en_US/zarafa_community_lang.php
in Line 2

I tried z-push on ClearOS 6.2 an it was working out of the box. Im not using the rpm-Package just copied the sourcecode in a webserverdirectory with an aliase to myclearosserver.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

And I also installed the Zarafa-Webapp without any problem:
wget download.zarafa.com/community/final/WebA...1.0-33778.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh --nodeps zarafa-webapp-7.1.0-33778.noarch.rpm
cp /etc/httpd/conf.d/zarafa-webapp.conf /usr/webconfig/conf/httpd.d/zarafa-webapp.conf

Then you can login here:myclearosserver.com/webapp/
Webapp is the future from zarafa with a fresh design, like clearos

@enzo: I think James is right with your Thunerbird/Zarafa-Gateway Problem .You have to change
disabled_features = pop3 imap
to
disabled_features =

I dont understand whats wrong with your webaccess: You can login and dont see the body and the attachement? Have you updated your installation how its described in this thread?

I know webapp is the future, but right now it seems to be not quite ready for prime time. When updating labels in calendar view the color doesn't change. It doesn't default to taking you to any given folder and task due dates and start dates don't work correctly. Funny thing is if you change the label in webapp, which doesn't show the color, then go to webaccess, the color has changed even though webaccess doesn't give the option to change the label. What would be best is if the color changed by category similar to Outlook.

And speaking of Outlook, are we not going to be able to connect Outlook to the community version because of the licensed package not being available?

Thanks for all the work

If it's not in repo's it can always be downloaded in the zarafa community website, however, as before your limited to 3 users unless paid for.

I know webapp has got some slight issues but it's been improving at least there's a choice, I think there was a recent build that came out a little while ago don't know which version you may be using see if it solves your problems?

My devel environment was a bit behind (read: I didn't run "svn update"), I see it now (and fixed)!

Ahhh... I see. Many thanks Alex.

A tip when using imapsync to transfer mail from 52. to a 6.2 mail server... (or at the very least my experience...)

It is better to run imapsync on the new 6.2 server to fetch mail from the old 5.2 server than to run imapsync on the old server to push mail across to the new server...

I found that running the older version of imapsync (1.267-1.1.v5) on the 5.2 box the 6.2 box Zarafa would eventually lock-up with the Zarafa Storage Server daemon failing... when running imapsync (1.484-1.el6.noarch) on the new server - this didn't happen, and was very consistent. This testing was with a largish mailbox of 2G+ - for a single user. As a bonus the formatting of the progress report with the newer version is much better, and the transfer runs faster.

Other thing of note is that Zarafa puts a much higher load on the system than Horde and is much much slower syncing mail. When I have time I will run some comparative tests as the hardware on my production backup mail server running Horde on 5.2 is quite similar to the test 6.2 box running Zarafa and should therefore provide useful numbers...

@Socs28:
James Joseph is right, you can download the free zarafa-communityversion and install the zarafa-licensed. Then its posible to connect with 3 Outlooks.
# yum install sysstat
# rpm -Uvh zarafa-licensed-7.0.7-34256.x86_64.rpm
# service zarafa-licensed start
# service zarafa-server restart

To check if its working:
# tail /var/log/zarafa/licensed.log

Output:
Fri Jun 15 06:52:40 2012: ZCP serial in '/etc/zarafa/license' is invalid. Assuming default 3-user license
Fri Jun 15 06:52:40 2012: ZCP license for 3 Win32 MAPI users

Now you can connect with the zarafa-winclient and Outlook.

For understanding:
Communityversion without licensed: unlimited users, no Outlook
Communityversion with licensed running: unlimited users and 3 Outlooks
Licensed Version(key in /etc/zarafa/license/base): limited users, unlimited Outlooks
