Beta 3 looks really good. I'm really impressed with the AD database that's possible for 6.2 for users I think it's a really good idea for people who need to have a Windows server for certain things like databases etc.

Just have a few things:

* Beta 3 was suppose to include flexshares I see it on the market place but while downloading I'm getting an error I'm guessing this isn't available yet ?

* The radius that's in ClearOS is that only as a connector or will it be possible to use RADIUS as your authenticator to make users and groups ?

*edit*

Like to add another

* I don't see in the user section where you can add services per user like in 5.2 i.e. give them access to windows networking/mailbox. Is it not possible to do this anymore or is this feature not in yet?

Not there yet... it's coming!

The radius that's in ClearOS is that only as a connector or will it be possible to use RADIUS as your authenticator to make users and groups ?
I don't know RADIUS at all. I was involved with the implementation, but I have no idea how that implementation is supposed to work. If you send a PM to David Loper, he might be able to provide some guidance (preferably in the forums instead of in private though). As it stands today, RADIUS will not be appearing in Marketplace in the final release. We'll keep it installable via yum, but right now I don't even know if it works

I don't see in the user section where you can add services per user like in 5.2 i.e. give them access to windows networking/mailbox. Is it not possible to do this anymore or is this feature not in yet?
The options are still there, but the Windows Networking option is hidden (for now). All other options (PPTP, Web Proxy) are there under "App Policies" when creating/editing a user. There's even a new "Shell Extension" available in Marketplace if you want to enable shell access for users (geeks only!). For Windows Networking, there's some debate on how much information to expose, notably:

- Account status (enabled/disable)
- Roaming profiles (enabled/disabled)
- Logon drive
- Logon script

For those running a simple file server, those last 3 fields are not relevant (confusing and just clutter). For now, we'll probably just go with "Account Status" and leave the rest hidden.

Oh... the Horde/Kolab mail system will be available in the 6.3 release (which is when we plan on supporting 5.x upgrades in some kind of way). Zarafa and Google Apps are going to be the "default" mail systems in version 6. I don't know if "default" is the right word here since we're leaving it up to end users. The "install wizard" will probably step folks through this step, i.e.

Pick a Messaging/Groupware Solution

- Google Apps
- Zarafa Standard / Zarafa Community
- Horde/Kolab

Ah yes I see the App policies sorry I didn't notice them before. I think it's great you have the ssh enabled without having to add it to the webconfig file in vim. That's quite nice.

To be honest I don't know much about radius myself although my boss was saying it would be quite good for clients that have multiple sites compared to using ldap. If it's not going to be in the final release by default I'm guessing users and groups with it will not be possible. Hopefully in the near future this might be the case!

I have to say the interface for the side section where you can choose server/gateway is a much bigger improvement then 5.2.

It seemed a bit slow and sluggish before and sometimes if it was slow it would open everything all at once before loading up your section. This seems more stable so I'm quite liking this. Will probably take a little bit to get use to that directory section doesn't exist anymore and adding users are at the buttom but other then that it's fine.

Glad to hear your using zarafa/google apps as your base choice of e-mail I'm quite curious as to what options the google apps features give you as we have a few clients that actually use it. Is there a document or page that explains what the google apps app on clearos does or offer?

Hi Peter, I tested the radius implementation/howto doc for David on ClearOS 5.2 and it worked OK then!
www.clearfoundation.com/docs/howtos/sett...eradius2_to_use_ldap

It permits user based authentication across wireless access points - so you login to your wireless network using your user credentials stored in LDAP, rather than an obscure (and usually private) WEP or WPA2 shared key. I believe it also extends to other applications

That sounds quite good Tim, does that mean the clearos would need to be the wireless server for this to work or do you need a router that has radius support for it to do this?

Just a router with RADIUS support

e.g. I had my wireless router hooked up to ClearOS via a wired port, then configured the RADIUS support on the router, and added the router local IP to the ClearOS RADIUS config as a permitted station.

Hi Tim,

In theory, the RADIUS app in version 6 should behave the exact same way. The version 5 release was converted over to the way things are done in 6, but the app has not been verified.

Hey all,

I just got 6.2 Beta 3 installed. Looks great! I am having a problem getting the Flexshare app installed via the market. I enabled web services in ClearSDN for the server that I'm testing out 6.3 Beta 3 on. I have gotten other apps like multiwan and intrusion protection installed without a hitch, but when I try to install the Flexshare app or the Print Server app the webconfig installer comes back with "Error, no packages selected for install." in the Details box.

Any clues why this is happening?

Seth,
Both flexshare and print server aren't available yet they will be soon most likely as the roadmap has now removed beta 3 and on to working on RC1

That would do it. I assumed that it was pushed out into the market because they removed Beta 3 from the roadmap. Looks like I was mistaken.
