Vista, Windows 7 and XP SP3. No firewalls on any of the local PCs(Yes, even Windows Firewall is disabled). Anti-virus is Avast!. The Vista PC was able to access some of the files, but not all, and was not running any Anti-virus. The Windows 7 could not access anything, and the XP could not either. All I could do on each was view files.

Well, there were some Samba file permission and other issues in the betas --- that's the most likely root cause of the problem. If you can reproduce the problem on the release candidate, I would consider it a release blocker!

If "yum upgrade-all" from beta2 to rc1 would do a reproduce able area then i can reproduce it.
So i try to give some more information. Maybe there is something usefully for you:
- kernel 2.6.31.4
- clear os runs in panic mode (cause of missing iptables for kernel 2.6.31)
client system:
- xp professional sp3
- aviara antivir personal (free-av)
- deactivated av guard results in the same problem

I see you rolled your own vanilla kernel...do you have the same problems with the default ClearOS kernel?

If you are having Samba issues, re-installing RC1 is the only way to go. Upgrading a broken beta won't do much good in this case.

I have another/similar problem with flexshares!
I create users and groups. When I dedicate ownership of flexshare to user, it works fine, but when I put it to group, it work just for one member, usually the member that have ownership of that folder/directory before.
Resume:
Flexshare - users - works fine
Flexshare - groups - user from that group do not have permission to write
I downgrade to CC 5,0 until it is solved.

i now run the "old" regular kernel and samba audit works fine. i dont realy remember why i upgraded to such a newer kernel version. i think it has to do whith the via c7 support. but this also works fine now.
so sorry for this brainriddle and thanks for the solving attempts

After having been using 5.1 for some days, I noticed that the SAMBA is not working as it should.
I found this thread that might have the same issues.
The /home/[user] is working, but the samba in flexshare is NOT.
I am able to copy files TO samba share from different windows computers/versions and I have verified that the file is copied correctly (via scp) But to get the file FROM samba results in "out of memory" error in windows - SOME OF THE TIME!. Also, when copy pictures and video, the windows client is not able to make/show thumbnails of the copied files. As this problem has been around, I'm hoping there is a known solution?

Hello "Ping"!
Where are you seeing the "out of memory" error? Could you post the exact error message that you see? How much memory do you have installed on the system?
the windows client is not able to make/show thumbnails of the copied files
I don't know about Windows, but when I connect to a network share using Ubuntu, it does not bother creating thumbnails. That's a reasonable default behavior since the desktop system has to read all or at least a good chunk of the files to create thumbnails. That's fine on a local network -- but not good when browsing over a VPN connection. Oh... if you map the drive, you might see different behavior.

The "out of memory" is an information window in xp when I try to copy from samba to xp. Copying TO samba gives no error. Note that the error is ONLY shown when "Audit Log" is enabled in flexshare, so the error windows has nothing to do with the memory.
If I disable "Audit log" the system is working as it should again. The problem is "Audit log", but I do not know anything about samba audit loging.
