TOPIC: Can't connect to webconfig over local lan.
#30973
Can't connect to webconfig over local lan. 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I have a fresh install of ClearOS 5.2. I can connect to webconfig on the systems console, but I cannot get a connection from my local lan.

My configuration is as follows...

WAN eth0:75.101.40.127/24
Local Lan eth1:192.168.2.3/24

Default Gateway 75.101.40.1/24

When I try and connect from my local lan I get the following...

This webpage is not available
The webpage at sporkti.dehnert.com:81/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 111 (net::ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED): Unknown error.

webconfig is running...

netstat -ntlp | grep webconfig
tcp 0 0 :::81 :::* LISTEN 15484/webconfig
tcp 0 0 :::82 :::* LISTEN 15484/webconfig
tcp 0 0 :::83 :::* LISTEN 15484/webconfig

I do get the welcome to Horde when I connect to port 83

I suppose you have tried to access your server with the IP address?

Are you using some kind of proxy server? what browser are you using and what proxy settings are you using?

I'm assuming you can ping that DNS name from your client PC?

That was what I tried first. My first thought was that it was using name based virtual hosting for the management console, so I added the name and ip to my DNS service, but still no luck.

No proxy server. I have tried Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. I do have an add proxy on Safari (glims) but I turned it, and all of the extensions off while trying to debug the problem.

I can ping the ClearOS box, both by name and IP address. I have tried connecting from my Mac and from my Mac Book Pro with the same results, so it don't think its a problem with any particular system. I can ping systems on my local network and on the Internet WAN connection as well. So the ClearOS system seems to be well connected. I can ssh from the ClearOS system to my mac as well with no problems.

Wooops! I did leave a proxy service on! The Glimmer Blocker was still grabbing my connections. I turned of HTTPS proxying and BNGO! I'm in!!

Thanks for the assistance. It is much appreciated.
