Is there a way to install ClearOS 6.2 on a CPU with no PAE support.

I know that it is en the Kernel.

I believe not. Only a PAE kernel is provided with 6.x.

Sorry PAE support was implemented as default in the 6.x kernels. (as per the upstream sources)

I believe the view was that CPU's have had PAE support since 1995 and so most modern hardware would be able to run it. What are you trying to install it on?

I am trying to install it on a EPIA EK8000EG: www.viaembedded.com/en/products/boards/4...ries_Mini-ITX_Board_(EOL).html

I bought the MB in beginning of 2010, so not close to 1995 at all.

I know that only a PAE kernel is provided with 6.x.
I was more thinking about installing it on a HD in a computer with PAE support, and then downgrade the kernel, to one that would not require PAE.
I understand that I could get a unstable system, but this only my old server I have sitting, I wanted to use for testing, before I install stuff on my real server.

Sorry - but what you bought in 2010 was very very old technology

The Via EK board itself is 2006 vintage (announced 10 Aug 2006)

However... the CPU is their "Luke". Now the "Luke" is an Eden Processor combined with a Via LN333 North Bridge. The Eden processor itself was first introduced in Dec 11 2001 and has had a few minor improvements since then. It's claim to fame is not the architecture, but lower power and thus lower heat. But.... the Eden that VIA produced was already outdated CPU architecture when it first cam out! Based on the Cyrix III processor produced by Centaur Technology and bought out by VIA. It was called Cyrix as Centaur had in turn bought out Cyrix and their technology - Centaur also used technology from WinChip Processors. Their intention was to produce a very simple low-power x86 based chip for embedded applications. Now Cyrix merged with National Semiconductor on 11 Nov 1997. Cyrix had no license from Intel and so had to reverse engineer their processors - hence they were way behind Intel as each new Cyrix CPU came out...

I have a Via board with the same problem - but an older 2004 designed board (Epia M11)- it will go the same way as the 8088 and 286 boards I used to have
