FTP Server..Need Help 5 Months ago
Hi Clear OS Community!

I'm new in here and I need help. This is the first time I use Clear OS. Here is the story my boss here in Saudi need a software based gateway/firewall so I ended up this site and download ClearOS Enterprise 5.2 and installed in an old spare server we have; 2GB RAM, Core 2 Duo Processor, and 4 NIC and having a 35GB HDD.

To make the story short the ClearOS run smoothly with 3 ISP as Multi-WAN, configure load balance and fail over, then set 1 NIC for internal network connected to my switch wherein 2 PC is connected for testing.

To test FTP, I configure it under Server menu and tested, and as expected it runs well with global IP as address like ftp://84.x.x.x. Now here is my problem I want my FTP default folder to be hosted in a separate server/pc not inside my ClearOS Enterprise 5.2.

I'll appreciate your help and I'm looking forward to it. Sorry for my poor English grammar.

Thank you very much.

Hi Erwin,

Welcome to clear. What you are looking to do should be possible, however I can't help as my knowledge is limited. I'll take a guess that you will need create a mount point on clear OS for your remote directory, and then change the ftp server config to look at your new mount point. There are some other posts on the forum about creating mount points (check for threads about multiple disks or one I remember about having the squid proxy cache hosted on external disks). Once you have a mount point, changing the FTP config should be fairly easy.
