Why does ClearOS have a specific targeted number o 2 Years, 7 Months ago
"ClearOS is uniquely targetted at sites that are distributed and have fewer than 50 users".
I found this somewhat of a limiting statement as on proper hardware this targeted number is easily exceeded! I run over 100 users on CC4.3 on multiple LANS and have never had anyperformance or bottleneck issues.

Is ClearOS going to be limited in performance? Or has the number of mailbox users been increased to 50? (I have read that such a limitation has been removed).

How can such a limiting number be beneficial? Believing that CC was and is one of the finest distros for an all in one box I desire to see ClearOS and its new foundation flourish.

Thanks for any comments.

John, good question. To be honest with you it has more to do with awareness than it does with functionality. You are absolutely right, ClearOS is very capable of handling more than 50 users. I have spoken with many who have hundreds and even thousands of users on one box.

The reality however, is that the enterprise level market is less than 100,000 companies in the states, and the SMB market is just under 10 million (and home office households are just under 40 million). The simplicity of the ClearOS operating system and the ability to fully manage a network with one hardware appliance makes it perfect for small and distributed environments.

ClearOS will be better served through mass adoption. As the community around it grows, and the ClearSDN creates more revenue, the software improves more quickly, awareness grows and more will benefit from the offering.

That makes great sense to me! Maybe the word "scalable" could be substituted however. Just my .02 cents!

Have yet to put ClrOS on a test box but will do so probably next week.

Good luck with everything!
