My work desk has much to be desired in regards to cleanliness, however I do have a few in-house slaves that make sure this one stays clean, I recommend them for every male entity, 'there called daughters' please keep in mind these slaves don't come cheap

Haha nice...I'll bear that in mind.

On the client OS side of things...XP at work with Windows Server 03, Vista Business at home on the laptop, Linux Mint Gloria on the desktop.

Hello all.
As an every day OS i tend to stick with the main stream windows for my desktops. Mainly because this is the OS im most cumfortabale with.

I never used to like PC's and thought they where sporned from the devil him self. Back in the day i had the far supearia Amiga A1200, A500 with many upgrade's. They where the days
How ever i am entreged buy the hole open source idear and have been using (or playing with) different linux disstros for a few years now.
I started with smoothwall and loved it, and eventualy started to try the desktop disstros.
The disstros iv used most are: OpenSUSE, Ubuntu & Fedora

The machines in my home at this moment in time are running:
Server = ClarkConnect 5
Media = XP Pro with media protal (media protal is grate but i do plan on using MythTV once iv worked out how to install it on CC)
Gamer = Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
Borther's = XP Pro
Pearent's = Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
HP Laptop = XP pro / ubuntu
test laptop = OpenSUSE
Sister = MacBook (dont know witch OS think its 10)

Other device's that are connected to my network and are used for things other than there perpose are:
Old school xbox's running softmod XBMC dash
PS3 which i would like to try "yello dog" on if i can convince my bro that it wont kill his PS3
Nokia N95 with a add-on installed that lets me stream live and recorded TV from my media portal PC when home or away.
Sonny Ericsson w995

Iv included the phones as these days they are getting more and more like mini PC's and feel they are possibly going to be very usefull. I can all ready use my n95 to check email from my CC box.

Any how i think im rambleing on a bit now. Take a look at part of my setup if you like. Unfortunately i do not have any of these slave's that you speak of and i think it show's

The lair

Linux Mint is amazing... and runs nearly turn key.... I also run a custom build of CentOS for my mail server which is a modified version of Qmail Toaster... a project I have worked with on a on and off basis with Jake Vickers for several years... it's a rock solid and secure mail server...

I like the lightweight, long battery life of the EeePC since I tend to get up and move around a lot, especially for onsite work. I am running EasyPeasy, an Ubuntu distro optimized for EeePC netbooks. Of course I need access to Windows for certain selfish applications, so I have XP Pro running in VirtualBox. I am actually able to run Internet Explorer and some other native Windows apps in CrossOver. Of course actually working all day hunched over such a tiny screen gets strenuous.

Dan, do I understand you correctly that you are running XP within VBox on the EeePC??

I never would have thought to run VBox on one because of the slow CPU speeds.

Neat idea!
