TOPIC: Invalid Token when creating an account

Invalid Token when creating an account 1 Year, 6 Months ago
After multiple attempt to creat a ClearFoundation account (already have one for ClearCenter when I registered clearOS 5.1) I kept getting "Invalid Token" as a result. I tried multiple browsers, machines, and OSes and got the same. Then I moved my laptop out from behind the clearOS 5.2 server and was able to set up an account to "Join The Fun" (all the previous attempts were from behind the server).

During all these efforts I noticed that there is no obvious way to communicate to a "webmaster" if you do not have an account. I was able to use a link for Tim Burgess and "harass" him though his blog (please forgive me Mr. Tim) but the time and effort for finding even this was extensive. I would suggest making some sort of communication link for those who have questions but are not "members."

This of course begs the question of why I could not create an account from behind my clearOS PDC in the first place? I was able to do it from behind just the router and other sites have not been so restrictive. Googling "invalid token" led to multiple links about joomla which I believe is powering this site/board. Perhaps there is a fix.

Hi Mike,

During all these efforts I noticed that there is no obvious way to communicate to a "webmaster" if you do not have an account.

Ooops. Sorry about that. I just updated the Contact Us page. It now contains a link to info@clearfoundation.com. I also updated the footer to make it easy to find the "Contact Us" page.

This of course begs the question of why I could not create an account from behind my clearOS PDC in the first place?

Content filtering? That's a guess.

I posted once that my ClearOS box was blocking me accessing these forums do to the Content Filter (weighted phrase) and thus had to whitelist the site.

Because you were seeing partial pages, it is likely that your ClearOS system was only blocking parts of the webpage you were trying to view

Whitelist cleacenter.com and clearfoundation.com and try again. Or check your logs, run an ad-hoc report for one of the IP's that you had with the filter of Banned - All and see what it shows.

Thanks, hopefully that will help others that may be less determined. As for content filtering being the problem. I would agree and have tried what Jared Busch suggested but don't seem to get to the correct resolution.

Now that I do have an account I am able to login while behind the server.

I had seen your post in my efforts to find some resolution but your circumstances were a bit different from mine in that you already had an account and I could not create one.

As for "partial pages" this was not the issue as I could browse the forum and any other "unrestricted" areas of clearfoundation.com and clearcenter.com. It was only after filling out and submitting the form for registration to clearfoundation.com that I got an invalid token message. FWIW The page was not displayed like the blocked site dialog that pops up because of the content filter rules although the words "Invalid Token" were in a box like those boxes (red line with pinkish background).

I did/do have clearfoundation.com/clearcenter.com whitelisted. One of the machined I tried to create the account on has an exempt IP. The ad hoc report for "Banned - All" doesn't show any sites which is odd because I have recently set up some sites as banned and tested the rule.

If I disable the content filter then that keeps me from seeing any pages but I may try making some minor changes to see if I can set up another account. I could not even make an account using the console on the server with links. Anyway, I will try a few things over the weekend and if I get this solved I'll post again

For now I'm in and since noone else has posted this issue then there must be something unique to my setup.

Thanks,
Mike

On a clean setup, prior to starting squid or any kind of web filtering (and before re-registering) I was able to start the account setup process and get past the "invalid token" screen after the first dialog query that asks for a name, username, password, and to check that I agree with the rules. I'll go a little slower on the filtering and try to determine specifically what causes the problem.

After starting the web proxy and enabling transparent mode still no problem.

After enabling the content filter still no problem.

And lastly adding the protocol filters...no problem.

Don't know what else to try to reproduce the problem. There is nothing different about the install from last time.

EDIT: forgot to click the update button on the content filter after enabling it in the drop-down box. That led to the "Invalid Token" response again even after I deselect all the phrase and blacklists options and making sure that clearcenter.com and clearfoundation.com were in the exception site list. So if the content filter on it causes a problem for me to create an account on clearfoundation.com even if it has nothing to filter.
