Domain Provider Problems 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I can't seem to get my domain provider to put in the right information to get my info forward to clearos to be resolved. This is the information that they have for the name servers. Of course if you put into a url richardsonprodu4.poweredbyclear.com the resolution occurs and you get to my website. If you put in www.richardsonproductsllc.com you can't "can't find webpage". What do I need to tell the provider specifically since they are very dense. I also have a "c" record in their database that is www.richardsonproductsllc.com richardsonprodu4.poweredbyclear.com that doesn't work either.

Below is the information that I snagged from my domain service page.
Can you assist me here?

Thanks
Rich.

I'm confused - are you using the ClearSDN domain name service? or some other domain registry service?

You appear to be configuring the 'NS' or name server record, and this should point at whoever is hosting your name server records.

Normally you need a DNS A record for your main domain (richardsonproductsllc.com), and use CNAME records for subdomain aliases (www. or mail. etc)

Also bear in mind it can take a couple of hours for DNS changes to propagate and become effective...

I understand about the propagation time. It's been days and it still doesn't work.

You folks have my "A" record. I want the other domain provider to send out a request to you to resolve it.
I can't get them to do it correctly. My name is never resolved. I had them put in your name servers to help the situation out, but I still can't get the name resolved.

Domain.com holds my name www.richardsonproductsllc.com"
You have my "A" record that can get my name resolved.
I can get my name resolved IF i put in www.richardsonprodu4.poweredbyclear.com

I want Domain.com to get my name resolved by pointing to you so that you can resolve the name.

How is this done?

In other words what does Domain.com have to do to get this right?

Thanks
Rich.

I have clearos downloaded onto my computers, and I had domain.com first. Hence my name is registered with them first.. If you want me to transfer the name to you guys....that can be done also. Please let me know the details in how to make that happen.

Thanks
Rich.

So...ClearOS/ClearSDN have a DNS A record for richardsonprodu4.poweredbyclear.com as part of the dynamic DNS service

This is different to the DNS record for richardsonproductsllc.com which you are trying to configure elsewhere.

If you have a dynamic IP address then you have a problem as normally A records should only contain IP addresses....if yours is static IP, then just plug it in and off you go!

A CNAME record usually only allows subdomains from your main A record to be pointed to other servers (e.g. www. mail. server. etc). You can configure CNAME www.richardsonproductsllc.com (note the www. ) to point to richardsonprodu4.poweredbyclear.com but not the root of the domain.
