Can't Access iTunes Store 4 Years ago
I have a CC4.3 machine which is roughly 1.5 years old and has been working like a charm until a few months ago all the computers on the network now cannot access the iTunes store (the one out on the internet, my mt-daapd server is working fine.) I suspect it is related to the incremental iTunes software updates the occur occasionally.

I am trying to build a cc5.2 machine now as my solution, but was wondering if there were any suggestions as what to look for as the problem on the older machine? I have poked around all the firewall options, but nothing jumps out at me. Is there any tool which I can use to debug this problem?
TIA

I can get to the iTunes store just fine with my 5.2 build, but I had to add an exception to the cache/proxy to ignore the downloads. Had to do the same for Java.

Can you provide any more details? Since the iTunes Store is accessed through iTunes and not through a browser how did you determine the domain to apply the exception to?

I just added apple.com as the bypass exception.

But I still had timeout issues until I synced my pc's clock

Go check the log viewer or run an ad-hoc report for the IP of the machine you tried to access it on.

I run an ad-hoc report for all Banned traffic once a week to see what my system is blocking and then update rules as needed.

This did not help with my apple auot updates and java updates. Those were failing because of the proxy trying to cache and scan the file. TO find that, I simply wen tot he proxy log and searched for "java' and "apple" until I found what seemed to be the cuplrit. Added the exceptions for those subdomains (I refuse to whitelist/except apple.com or sun.com entirely).

SOLVED: Re: Can't Access iTunes Store 4 Years ago
Had to add these to the whitelist content filter. Adding *.apple.com is not enough.

itunes.apple.com
ax.itunes.apple.com
albert.apple.com
gs.apple.com

Can you advise how to generate or read the proxy log? Is it /squid/access.log? or ??

and how do you determine what is the culprit?

How and where do you add exceptions to prevent the proxy from caching? is that on the web site bypass?

TIA

Turns out this is not the answer... I had inadvertently turned off the content filter entirely... just discovered my kids found stuff I didn't want them to see...

Still can't access the itunes store ...

Hi

These two tutorials tell you how to capture the data from your devices so you can see what to unblock in your proxy.
