vpn wan connection 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I am configuring an internet connection to work through a pptp vpn client. will this connection show in the list of ethernet adapters? and can it be used in multiwan?

I am interested in knowing the answer to this too, but rather with IPSEC or OpenVPN.

I would like to have one route to be my vanilla ISP and the other route to by my persistent IPSEC/OpenVPN connection. Possible?

OpenVPN shows up as a "tun0" ethernet adaptor. IPSec does not show up with an interface with the way it is set up in ClearOS which uses the default "netkey" stack. If you compiled it and configured it yourself using the "klips" stack (I believe it is quite easy to do, but I've never done it) then an interface can show up as "ipsec0". AFAIK, PPTP does not show up with an interface (I have it set up and have used it in the past and I see no interface).

Thanks Nick!

So is it possible to have Clear have a persistent OpenVPN connection to a 3rd party?

Ideally I'd like to run my own OpenVPN server for when I'm away from home as well.

I was replying for the case when you are running your own VPN server - so a 3rd party would be making the connection to you. I don't know how to configure OpenVPN to connect out, but there have been some posts here about server <-> server OpenVPN connections. I expect they still use tun0.
