Hi..new to both ClarkConnect, and especially ClearOS. I looked over the ClarkConnect documentation, and what little there is for ClearOS, and can find nothing to describe exactly how to setup ClearOS as a PDC. In the "Server --> Windows Networking --> Windows Networks and File Sharing" there are only settings to join ClearOS to a Windows PDC. Nothing to set it up as such. Again, am I must missing something here?

look under the web config under Server-Windows Networking-Windows file and network

there are settings there for that.

bty there seems to be some issue with Window7 for now.

I looked there, but nothing to enable PDC is there. Also, I noticed that Samba wasn't even running, nor winbind. I started both services and still got nowhere. I'm just trying to work with Windows XP clients, so any Windows 7 issues are not an issue for me right now.

by setting those settings that what makes the PDC on your lan.

well..that doesn't work. No clients even see the PDC, and using nbtstat to query the WINS server reports nothing. For now, I'm going to have to test this version of ClearOS at some other time, as this is a show stopper for me. I'm disappointed for sure, as I had heard really good things about ClarkConnect/ClearOS, and I need to come up with a small business solution to replace an aging Windows Server domain. Right now, this doesn't look too promising. Not to mention that even ClarkConnect documentation is limited in this area, and those forums were of no help either.

Remember, you are running a Beta version. Lots of us use CC as a PDC, including me, and it works just fine, even (mostly) on Win 7. The fact that your Samba wasn't running clearly meant something went wrong. Was it a clean install? Maybe you can tell us a little more about your system so we can go through it.

It you don't have a day to spend on that, you probably should not be working with a Beta release. I'd recommend a clean install using ClearkConnect 5.0.
