Can't access server from otuside 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hi,

I have installed ClearOS 5.2 on my PC. It act as my multipurpose server (virtually all the service available upon installation). Since this is a testing server and I only use it for learning purpose security is not a big issue. All service seem to running OK if I access from local LAN.

The problem is I can't access the server from Internet. No service available at all. I can't even ping the server. Can anyone help me on the problem? or maybe point me to the right direction where I can get some info to solve this ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Omar,

Can we assume that you are on the public side of the Internet and trying to reach the server? If so, have you opened port 80 on the firewall? (Network>Incoming - the add HTTP under the "Add Firewall Rules - Incoming Connections).

Does this help? If not, let us know and we'll help you hack away at the problem

Cheers!

Can we get a snapshot of your ip settings from your Webconfig, under Network->Settings->IP Settings?

Hi Keith,

Yes I am on the public side of Internet and I have open port 80 on the fire wall. In fact I have open other port as well (81- webconfig, 22 - SSH as well). I even try to disable firewall just to try find out what is the problem... but still can't access.

Updates:

I seems like only certain block of IP can't access. My server IP is 60.48.x.x. When I try with other IP in the same block ( I used different account with them same ISP), it can't access. But when I try with other IP ( different ISP so I get different IP) . 203.82.x.x I can connect with no problem.

Any idea what is the problem?

Sounds like Snort is blocking some of the ip addresses. Look in your intrusion prevention of your Webconfig and see if Snort has blocked any of them. You can add those addresses to the exempt list and also delete them from the blocked list.

Here is the snapshot of IP setting.

eth 1 is my local LAN
eth2 is connected to the modem-->> Internet. I am using PPPoA fixed IP
eth0 for time being is not connected to anything. I am planning to try MultiWAN in the future.

I have checked the list. My IP is not on the list. I have tried addind my IP to the exempt list but still can't connect.

Stopping the service and try to connect again also unfruitful.

Is it possible the problem is lying on my ISP side ? Maybe they are blocking certain port or something?
