You can get hold of PHP5.2.9 for ClearOS from my FTP site, see this thread from the ClarkConnect forums

Hi All,

since quite a number of tools (e.g. phpMyAdmin, typo3, etc.) now require php 5.2 it would make sense for a good distribution to have 5.2 default or at least easy ways to upgrade!

Hi Tokolosh,

I can imagine the missing php 5.2 can be a cut off criteria for production sites. If I need half a day to patch the distribution than it might become easier to use a different linux.

Therefore I want to make a clear point. If it takes too long to get ClearOS up to host a modern CMS then it is ineffective!
We need a fix!

Plus the build suggested in Tim Burgess's link runs through but the php tests fail...
even after yum update; yum upgrade;
Any constructive comments welcome!

Greetings - Achim

This point has been highlighted several times, and AFAIK the team are waiting for RHEL6 which will be based on a newer version of PHP...as you state 5.1.6 is a bit long in the tooth for the newer CMS hence the 5.2.9 RPM's

If you didn't know, ClearOS5.1 is based on CentOS5.4 / RHEL5.4, therefore package versions promote stability over bleeding edge features.

Regarding the RPM's they are simply compiled from that of the CentOS dev testing site, they are provided as is and therefore use them at your own risk. I've had no problems with them here, and during compile they passed all self-tests without problems - altbeit on a beta version of ClearOS. Now that ClearOS5.1 has been released final I will have another look

Re: PHP 5.2 2 Years, 4 Months ago
Achim - thats why I had to recompile my own - the RPM's in the CentOS testing repo are based on openldap2.3...ClearOS has an upgraded version to 2.4. If you grab the source rpm you can recompile your own, but you will need to install all the related devel packages. I have recompiled PHP5.29 against the final release of ClearOS so maybe give those a try?
