MAPI connection & POP collection help 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi all,

I'm new to ClearOS, hats off to all involved for creating something so good.

I have ClearOS 6.3.0 beta and Zarafa Community installed. I have webaccess & IMAP via Outlook 2010 confirmed working but am struggling with the following:

1) How do I connect via Outlook MAPI? I installed the Zarafa Outlook connector, it seems to find the server OK but complains "Cannot use the profile because the server was unable to contact the license server".

2) How do I configure collection of e-mail from an ISP hosted POP box? I see references to fetchmail on the forum but assume this relates to older mail modules.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ryan.

Hi Ryan, for Outlook MAPI connections you'll need the Professional version. These are licensed per user... the community version supports POP/IMAP and Webaccess

There was a fetchmail (mail retrieval) app in 5.2, which is due to arrive on 6.3 also...it can be configured manually if you are familiar with the command line.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the quick reply (and all the hard work you've put in to this I gather).

The lack of MAPI is disappointing. Could I make the suggestion that this fact is made clearer on the marketplace? The way I read it, the Zarafa Community description suggested a MAPI 3x user limit on the Community version, with Professional only required for more users - where have I misunderstood? Feel a bit hard done by as I've wasted $10

Could you also comment on the availability of Exchange-ActiveSync connections (via Android) on the community product? I haven't had a chance to test yet.

Many thanks,
Ryan.

Sorry...I have asked for that paragraph to be removed as its misleading... Zarafa offer a 'free' version which has 3 freebie licenses thrown in using their closed source component, but ClearOS are not providing this for the Community edition (see other post).

I believe you can obtain a refund for your purchase if still not happy not quite sure what the mechanism is yet. I would raise a support ticket using your ClearSDN account here secure.clearcenter.com/portal/ticket.jsp

Exchange ActiveSync support is available via Z-push...which is not yet available through the Marketplace, but can be installed using an RPM from here via the command line.
