TOPIC: Setting up mail (Zarafa)

Re:Setting up mail (Zarafa) 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Just checking,

I put both commands, service zarafa-licensed start and service zarafa-server restart in /etc/rc.d/rc.local.

Is this the right way / place?

Hello Tim,

The next problem pops up, after a update of Outlook I get the folowing error, klik here for the error.

I must say, the road to a happy and problem free use of Zarafa is a bumpy one and I am very lucky to test it first before I give it to my most importend customer, my wife.

Don't know how to fix this.

Greets, Ruud.

Ruud, that's not the best way to start services... but it works. Better to do:-

Code:

chkconfig --add zarafa-licensed
chkconfig zarafa-licensed on

Looks like your version of Outlook is not supported via the Zarafa compatibility plugin...sorry. See this guidance
www.zarafa.com/wiki/index.php/Zarafa_Outlook_2010_Support

Looks like you maybe able to run without the compatibility mode, you can either uninstall your update and go back to the SP1 version of Outlook 2010 or run with reduced features

For more detailed support I suggest you look at the Zarafa site, as the zarafa-licensed component is not part of the Community edition (and hence not supported). It is assumed you will configure Outlook to connect via IMAP (not the MAPI plugin) or Webaccess which is not restricted by licenses etc..

See the Zarafa docs... you also need the client MSI file
ftp://timburgess.net/zarafa/win32/zarafaclient-7.0.8.msi

doc.zarafa.com/7.0/User_Manual/en-US/htm...nfigure_outlook.html

Note all these files are available direct from Zarafa as part of their RHEL package

Hi Tim

I actually got it to work with my outlook and it works great

2 questions though.....

1. is there a plugin that is compatible with other email clients, like Thunderbird, Mac email clients, etc?

2. is there a way to backup the Zafara database?

Thanks Marc

No other plugins that I know of... you can configure Thunderbird for IMAP and iCal calendar sync. You can also configure Thunderbird to use the LDAP global address book stored in ClearOS.
doc.zarafa.com/7.0/User_Manual/en-US/htm..._mozilla_thunderbird

You can backup the Community version using mysqldump (located in system-mysql). If you want brick level backup (per user) then you need the Professional version. See steps here
www.clearfoundation.com/component/option...view/id,35921/#36499

EDIT: You can also use automysqlbackup with some tweaks posted in the forum, but I can't seem to find the post
