Mailserver deleting attachments 2 Years, 4 Months ago
One of my users complained that an attachment he had been sent had been deleted. It was resent to his hotmail account and received OK. It's been checked for viruses, and is clean. It is a zip file, and contains 593 files, with one level of recursion. The size of the zip file is 3,552,022 bytes compressed and 31,614,670 bytes uncompressed.

I have increased various settings to see if I can get this file through. I have now turned off all Antiphishing properties, set my Antivirus properties to pass through all files, max file size in a zip file of 20MB, unlimited number of files and recursions, and the maximum message size set to 30MB. I have upped the mail logging to be more detailed, but the attachment still gets blocked. Smaller zip files get through - up to about 10MB. Above that (and it doesn't seem to be hard and fast) they are blocked.

I have just sent myself some mail with a 6MB zip attachment with an MSI file in it from my google account. When it arrives (in Thunderbird) it shows that there is an attachment. However as soon as you try and open the mail, the attachment disappears. It's not Thunderbird - the same thing happens in Horde too. When the mail appears it shows with an attachment, but when you open it there is an attachment but of 0 bytes.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do now. Can someone try sending themselves an email with a large zip file attachment to see if it happens to them too. Anyone any ideas as to whay I can try?

Hi
If you look under Server - Mail scanning - Antimalware there is a place to configure "Other antimalware engine options"

You can change the size of the zip file and amount of files.

I hop this helps.

I have been all through those options and set them to as big a number as I can - but it still happens!

Hi

I am experiencing the same problems with attachments. Especially .xlsx and .pdf
My temp solution is to stop the Antispam, Greylisting and Antiwalware services.

I know this is not recommended, but until the issue is noted and worked on, I have no choice.

Hope someone have a more permanent solution !

I had the same problem and found an old post on the Clark connect forum which explained the cause but the bottom line is untick bin under Antimalware under Mail scanning.

Well it worked for me.
