ClearFoundation

Forums
ClearOS ClearFoundation and ClearCenter have moved to the new website ClearOS.com (https://clearos.com). We are making this change in order to improve search and exposure of ClearOS to the world. There are several improvements that are being made and some that are still on the table for development. The forums are now live on clearos.com and locked on this site until all the redirects are in place. If you have issues using the new site, feel free to ask on the #clearfoundation room in IRC chat on freenode.net or engage with a chat agent on the site if they are around. Our goal is to complete this step so that we can be properly ready for the types of communication that will be essential for the release of ClearOS 7!

Outgoing SMTP Server Authentication 5 Years, 3 Months ago
Hello,

I have read the information here:

http://www.clearfoundation.com/docs/howt...uthentication_to_isp

about configuring authentication to an outbound SMTP Server, however, I believe it does not contain all the necessary information. My SMTP Server is configured on a different outgoing port, and requires SSL, how do I configure this?

Thanks

Gary

Hey,

There is some useful information here:

ubuntu-tutorials.com/2008/11/11/relaying...tp-via-smtpgmailcom/

That helped me get the outgoing mail going through gmail, but I was trying to do it through my ISP, but couldn't get it to work.

I might just have to stick to gmail, the only problem is that the recipient receives an email from my gmail account, where as I would have preferred it to come through as the account I am sending from, i.e. my domain.

I wonder if this is a setting in gmail, anyone know?

Im struggling to get my server to relay via the gmail smtp server.
I have followed the following:

http://www.clearfoundation.com/docs/howt...uthentication_to_isp

But i keep getting

<peddersmeister@gmail.com>: host smtp.gmail.com[209.85.135.109] said: 530-5.5.1
Authentication Required. Learn more at 530
5.5.1 mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14257
i7sm2527002mue.28 (in reply to MAIL FROM command)

I'm a complete novice when it comes to Linux so i need an "Answer for Dummies" if anyone has any!

Many thanks

Peter

P.S. I can receive emails just fine through IMAP at present haven't tried POP3 yet.
