RobertP created a new topic Can't install vmware server 2 on ClearOS 5.2 in the forums.
I want to install vmware server 2 on my ClearOS 5.2.

I followed the instructions in the HowTo's, however when i start the config.pl, I get the following question.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

Whatever I try, the installation doesn't go further than this.

Before the installation i've already installed all of the development tools with : yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
According to the HowTo i've also installed the patch.

When I look further i noticed the following:

command : uname - mr

Results in:

2.6.18-194.8.1.v5PAE i686

Command : rpm -qa kernel\* | sort

Results in:

kernel-devel-2.6.18-194.8.1.v5
kernel-headers-2.6.18-194.8.1.v5
kernel-PAE-2.6.18-194.8.1.v5

As far I can see there's a difference between the running kernel and the development kernel for the headers.

I'm not sure if this causes the problem, if yes, how can I solve it?

I used the rpm version of vmware server, this is the complete filename/version of this rpm.
VMware-server-2.0.2-203138.i386.rpm (this is also the version used in the HowTo)

Is there someone who can help me or has the same problem?

Hi,

have just set up first Clear OS install and can't seem to get the XP Pro clients to connect.

When I click on change to change from workgroup to domain I get prompted for a username and
password to which I provide the winadmin login and password

After 30 seconds or so I get the following error

Computer Name Changes

The following error occurred attempting to join the domain 'tmpsrv':

Access is denied.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Mike

Hi,

maybe a silly question: what "winadmin" user did you use? Have you also used the password you had to setup during installation?

Just a guess.

Patrick Muller created a new topic CHDIR in flexshares and FTP in the forums.
Hello everyone,

I have now setup a ClearOS5.2.
Created users and groups in Ldap
Connected my win pc's to the domain (yes, I'm using ClearOS a a PDC)

I have created Flexshares for users and groups to use for sharing docs within their dpts.

My issue:

Connecting to the ftp via the default port (21) I get into the user's own directory.

Connecting to port 2121 I get to a ??root?? directory which shows me all manually created flexshares. I can get into the ones I have access rights to, but I can't get back to be able to browse from one share to another.
Also, I am seeing the shares I have no acces access rights for.

Solution I am looking for:

- What to do to be able to browse from share to share, inlcuding the personal one
- How to hide non accessible shares (I hve seen there is already a request for this...but never know)

Thank youin advance for any support

Best regards

Patrick

I guess now would be as good of a time as any to as this question...

This is how my network is setup as far as this post is concerned.

I am using smoothwall for my webserver so one 18mbps line is dedicated to it. Its very simple and does a wonderful job.
This is not the correct way of doing this at all though. As far as I know, servers shouldn't be "multi homed".

If I were to add the other static cable line to my COS box, is it possible to make it so all traffic to and from that IP would go directly to the webserver, and only to the webserver, but still have access to it from the lan?

I am having some issues with slow internet, and odd dns behaviors. Should I just wait until 6.2 is actually released and not bother with them now?

The answer to 1) is you don't have to do anything as the firewall by default is closed to internet access.

Pass on the other two.

Bilo created a new topic Mail server setup help in the forums.
Hello,
I'm testing clearOS and I like it allot so far.

my requirement is as follow:

ClearOS will be first MX record.
should receive the mail for my domain
AV and Spamfilter
keep a copy locally
and forward to the Exchange

testing I can find a way to forward all the mail to the Exchange (by adding the domain forwad)
or I can have the mail staying on the ClearOS system.
but I can't find anyway to keep them both.

is there a config file that I can change to force ClearOS to do this?

I need to be able to have my Exchange as the secondary MX and I need to have Clear OS to keep a copy of all the mails.

Our Exchange is tempremental and sometimes we had the site down for more than a week.
I need to be able to use the IMAP or the webmail functionality from Clear OS at anytime.

Anyone knows if this is possible with ClearOS

I'm not sure what to search for so if someone else has already answered the above question accept my apologies in advance

thank you all for your support

James Joseph, Peter Baldwin replied to the topic Re:ClearOS Enterprise 6.2 Beta 3? RC? Sure is quiet? in the forums.
Ah yes I see the App policies sorry I didn't notice them before. I think it's great you have the ssh enabled without having to add it to the webconfig file in vim. That's quite nice.

To be honest I don't know much about radius myself although my boss was saying it would be quite good for clients that have multiple sites compared to using ldap. If it's not going to be in the final release by default I'm guessing users and groups with it will not be possible. Hopefully in the near future this might be the case!

I have to say the interface for the side section where you can choose server/gateway is a much bigger improvement then 5.2.

It seemed a bit slow and sluggish before and sometimes if it was slow it would open everything all at once before loading up your section. This seems more stable so I'm quite liking this. Will probably take a little bit to get use to that directory section doesn't exist anymore and adding users are at the buttom but other then that it's fine.

Glad to hear your using zarafa/google apps as your base choice of e-mail I'm quite curious as to what options the google apps features give you as we have a few clients that actually use it. Is there a document or page that explains what the google apps app on clearos does or offer?

Marius Berg Syvertsen created a new topic Rocket-high latency and speed issues on VMWare VM in the forums.
Hello everybody!
I recently made a new virtual ClearOS in VMWare. I'm having access problems with it, since the latency is rocket-high and transfer speeds are ridiculously low. Using scp I get around 50 bytes/s (not kilobytes), which is way too slow and I get timeouts every few minutes.

I need complete disk access plus a reasonable transfer speed. Is there anyone here who got some tips that might solve the issues?

nigel tatschner created a new topic Web Proxy authentication from Windows AD in the forums.
This is what I e-mail Clear,

Hi ClearOS,

I am currently setting up ClearOS as a Web Proxy and a Content Filter, I have the system set up and the filtering is working as intended but I require users to be authenticated Via AD when using the proxy so it logs as the AD user.
What I have done so far is to follow some instructions here www.clearfoundation.com/component/option.../func,view/id,25117/ and added the machine to the domain, using wbinfo –u it displays the users in the domain (which is great) and but when I try the proxy I get asked for a log in box (which I don’t want) and if I try my domain log in details its fails to log in stating there is an error and brings up a clearOS error page.

As you can see what I am trying to achieve is that the users do not need to enter any log-in details and that the logs display the users access attempts to blocked sites and it would do if I was going to use the log in via ClearOS itself.

As you can see i'm having issues!!! If you need more info please let me know!!!

Figured it out.

In the SIP nat settings, added local networks 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 within FreePBX (under Tools)

Nick: You mean that I should try the FTP server that comes with clearos and remove the port forward that I have done?
No I am not saying that. All I am suggesting is a different way of adding the port forwarding rules in the Webconfig.

There is nothing to stop you running ftp from ClearOS if you want but all I am trying to do is get the port forwarding working.
