I have an old clarkconnect office edition 3.2 mail server running in an office of about 25 users. The time has come to upgrade this box and I have running next to it a brand new system with clearos 6.4 installed on it. I have installed zarafa community edition on it as the replacement groupware for the old system.
Email service being critical to these users, my intention is to move over the users gradually to the new system ie: 1 by 1. Would prefer to have a few users down than the whole office if something is not working right with the new system.
My dilemma is that I am running two email servers on the same LAN. This is not so much a problem as the old server remains the active MTA for incoming and outgoing mail. The new server uses fetchmail to pull emails from the accounts that are setup on the new server and all outgoing mails forward to the old server for now.
The problem is when the users who have been switched to the new server try to email local users who are still on the old server, I get an unknown recipient returned email.
One solution I had in mind was to setup all user accounts on the new server and use fetchmail on the old server for pulling locally sent mail from the new server for those users who have not yet been switched. However, the repos for the old server seem no longer to be working and I cannot install cc-fetchmail.
Any suggestions on how I can make this transition happen smoothly or resolve the local user not found scenario?
