Hmm same thing happens to me too. I am an admin on the system. If I log in with my correct username, I get the admin panel. If I login with the correct name but with a letter in the incorrect case, I get the user profile page. It's almost as though admin logons are case sensetive, but user one's arent! Maybe the code checks for an admin user first - and this is a case sensetive check - and then if it fails, checks for an ordinary user - which is a case insensetive check. Not very consistent!
As the problem appears to be in Windows 7 (there is a hotfix for this) then I think the answer is no. It should mean that if you apply the hotfix to your Win7 machine, you will be able to join a Samba 3 domain (ClearOS) without getting the
"Changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed. The name will remain "name".
