Hello All, I'm a SQL and Applications Administrator in NSW working for an Australian Branch of a Global Organisation. Been working in I.T. since 2000, specialising in SQL and Web development and also consulting. Very keen to test out ClearOS as I want to try and integrate it as a Proxy for our Australian Branch, integrating it with LDAP on our Domain Controllers and configuring the server as a Backup Domain Controller.

Hello All, I'm a Local Government Systems Administrator on a big Open Source kick, I'm currently implementing as many open source systems as I can, Trixbox, Joomla and now ClearOS to replace my current Firewall UTM. Really excited about the ClearBox product too, I don't know if there are many of them in Australia yet, but I'm keen to get one!

Welcome to this list and Happy New Year to you all. I see representation here for Adelaide. Brisbane and Sydney. How long have you folks known about and/or used ClarkConnect / ClearOS? What are some of the trickiest applications you have used it for? I'm looking for unique usages that may be worth developing further. Any starters? - John T.

Shane, Apologies for long delay. I'm from Sydney, living in Austin, Texas. Samba was developed initially by Andrew Tridgell at ANU, Canberra. It's almost as Australian as football, meat pies, and Holden cars. Ping me with any ClearOS questions or Samba issues, I'll do my best to help. Samba4 Alpha10 is now available for ClearOS 5.1 - still need to document how to get it operational.

Ok John, you have me intrigued. How is the samba logo part of the Australian flag? A bit of background on me. I am a crow eater, born and bred in Adelaide but currently living in Turkey. I am a system administrator for a tractor factory.

OK - its time to get our bearings here. Let's get the ball moving. What city are we all from? Are there any interesting government open source IT projects in your area? If so, what are they? PS: If any American city had as many days of continuous sunshine as Sydney, it would be called Sydney!

Samba is an Aussie invention. The Samba logo is part of the Australian flag (if you can find it!).
